B & B Farm Store was previously named K & B Farm Store, located in downtown Jesup, IA. Here, a young Jerry Bloes began as an employee working in the feed mill in 1959. Nine years later, Jerry puchased the store as a co-ownership with his partner Paul, and the 'B & B' was renamed to refer to the last names of these two owners. In 1980, Paul left the business and Jerry took full ownership. B & B has since been passed down to Jerry's son Donnie, but Jerry still stays very involved in the business. In 2002, a new feed mill was built in its current location just outside Jesup. Soon, the farm store itself was built, along with a Honda-certified lawnmower repair shop, both just next to the feed mill.

As B & B Farm Store has evolved over the years, so have the products and services we provide. The feed mill is the backbone of our business, and the roots of how B & B Farm Store began. "It began as a feed store," says Jerry. "But in the early days, feed was purchased by farmers at the mill, and the farmers put the feed into their pickup trucks to take home. Now, we deliver this feed to the farmer." Many other changes have taken place here too. We have moved on to sell not only feed, but also lawnmowers (both new and used), grills, lawn and garden equipment, as well as many other specialty items over the years. Also, our lawnmower repair shop is always expanding its services.

When the farm store was built, along came the availability of specialty products, such as Redwing Shoes, Stihl power tools and Carhartt clothing. These are just a few of the exceptional, top-of-the-line products we supply for customers. As Jerry says, "We're after quality here. We try to have something for everybody." And so there are aisles filled with birdfeeders, homemade crafts, pet supplies, toys and collectibles. The wild bird feed is also a popular item.

Another popular attraction here (especially for the kids) is Checkers, the store's friendly blue and yellow parrot. Don't be afraid to give him a cordial "Hello" as you walk through our door— he's sure to give you one back!

A wonderful thing about B & B Farm Store is that it is more than just a store, it is also a friendly place to visit. Many people walk through our door, not just to shop, but also to sit and chat with the store's workers and customers. "At 6:30 every morning, the table in the store is filled with people," says Jerry. "They just come in to talk and share a cup of coffee." The community events we hold are also a special part of the store. Events may include an ice cream social to promote June as National Dairy Month, gardening and horse-riding seminars, Customer Appreciation Day or a week of restored vintage tractors set on display by members of the community. Also, new and different seasonal items are often set out for display. Whatever it may be, there is always something new going on at B & B Farm Store.

Says Jerry, "It's becoming the store that I always dreamed it would be."
